Digital Gold and Silver Ink Printing
This new printing technology contains Pantone+Metallic and Pantone+Premium Metallic ink combinations in its standard colour library. These colour swatches are the most commonly used in the printing industry. Now these colours can be reproduced digitally similar to Pantone metallic colours on printing materials by designating the colour codes.
While conventional offset printing requires mixing silver ink to make metallic ink, this new product allows for simultaneous printing of several metallic colours during a single printing process (Iridesse Production Press Release , 2017). This makes the printing process so much faster than that of traditional offset printing.
Digital Gold and Silver Ink Printing VS. Foil Hot Stamping
While metallic ink is a uniquely mixed ink that is rolled onto your project similar to CMYK inks, foil stamping applies metallic foil onto your printed paper stock with heat and pressure. Both methods achieve a unique aesthetic appeal, but different projects are better suited for one approach over the other.
